Education designed to prepare students for lifelong learning, work, and careers; career education includes career awareness, exploration, decision-making, and planning; basic academic skills; basic employability skills; and understandings and applications of the meaning, satisfaction, and productivity of paid and unpaid work.

A progression of activities intended to help students acquire the knowledge, skills, and attitudes that make work a meaningful part of life. Career education has four stages: 1) awareness/orientation, 2) exploration, 3) preparation, including vocational education, and 4) job placement/follow-up.
